The program reflects LightBox’s commitment to the future of our industry. Each year, we connect a new class of mentees, many of whom have been young women, with leading industry veterans as mentors. Throughout the year, our mentees attend monthly mentor calls, book discussion groups, and webinars with experts offering advice on personal branding, networking, and other challenges that young professionals face in the commercial real estate industry.

– Eric Frank, LightBox CEO

About the Developing Leaders Program:

History

Inspired by the Developing Leaders Award category at our annual PRISM conference, this initiative was originally conceived in 2018 and launched in 2019 as an opportunity to provide education and mentor/mentee connections to spread the insights of business leaders, and provide newer professionals with the tools and resources they need to meet their professional development goals. This mentoring program is open to any commercial real estate risk management professionals at financial institutions or environmental consulting firms having less than 10 years of work experience.

Mission Statement

To generate a commitment to the environmental profession as a career path by connecting driven professionals early in their environmental career with experienced industry leaders to assist in development through sage career advice and skill building. The Mentor Program will work to attract talent to the environmental risk management field and increase retention by providing Mentees with the network, framework, and support to succeed – enhancing their career development.

Vision Statement

Our purpose as leaders in the industry is to encourage knowledge transfer and success by personally and professionally developing the future leaders of our industry. This mentoring initiative is an opportunity to provide education through forming Mentor/Mentee relationships to share the insights of business and technical leaders, and provide tips, guidance, and resources needed to meet professional and personal development goals.

I’m extremely proud that this year’s class—our 6th—brings the total number of mentees in our rigorous mentorship program to nearly 100 professionals who represent the next generation of leaders. This program owes its success to the tireless contributions of the Board of Governors and our deep pool of volunteer mentors who bring decades of experience and wisdom to inspire, coach, advise and motivate the mentees to boldly chase their goals.
